Here at Belmont Fundraising was are big fans of Altrata and their Billionaire Census 2025 is another report which delivers valuable insights for front-line fundraisers.

This edition reveals that the global billionaire population has grown 5.6%, reaching a record 3,508 individuals with combined wealth of $13.4 trillion. Europe — now home to over 1,000 billionaires — continues to see solid growth, with the UK ranking 4th globally and its billionaire wealth rising nearly 5% year on year.

For fundraisers in the UK and Ireland, this means:

  • More prospects, but higher concentration — Wealth is increasingly held by a small elite, so relationship-led, highly personalised engagement remains key.

  • Global wealth, local presence — London remains among the world’s top billionaire cities, underscoring the value of cross-border networks and international giving strategies.

  • Strategic philanthropy is evolving — As wealth grows in tech, finance, and AI-driven sectors, causes that demonstrate measurable impact, innovation, and sustainability will resonate most.

In short: the pool of potential transformational donors is expanding — but so is the competition for their attention. Authenticity, data-driven insight, and long-term relationship building have never mattered more.
